Bagpipes & Banjos is a 45 minute presentation that brings 2 classic
instruments together
for one show. Especially suitable for schools,
the instruments are introduced, discussed and played in a variety of
songs ranging from classical Piobaireachd on the pipes, to the traditional
sound of the 5 string bluegrass banjo.
The show brings the instruments to life, and encourages children to interact
and participate in the music. We
also discuss life lessons and the importance
of self-esteem.
...A child with good self-esteem has
the confidence to try new things and make friends, and has stronger relationships with others. Music helps to encourage independence
and helps to encourage them to take chances and try new things. Succeeding gives a huge boost to confidence. Music has a profound
effect on children. They respond not only to children’s music, but also to classical and contemporary music. Music has
the ability to calm, excite, and bring great pleasure. Moving to music in any type of freeform dance is one of a child’s
earliest experiences of relating to the outside world. Music helps to teach them about respecting other people's rights.
By stressing how others feel, and how important it is not to do things that make other people feel bad, and in a way follows
the golden rule... to treat others as they would like to be treated...
When was the last time you saw a banjo player wearing a kilt ?
